National Service Scheme

About : The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit was started in the year 2006-2007 under the guidance of Prof. S.T. Khot. Prof. S.A. Itkarkar and Prof. S.P. Kadam are the Program Officers of the NSS unit. It has a unit strength of 150 volunteers. Different activities like tree plantation, shramdan, blood donation camp, various competitions, lectures and seminars for students, visits to old age home and orphanages are conducted as a part of this program. The NSS volunteers also organise different events and celebrate the NSS day, Independence Day, Republic Day etc.

1.Special Winter Camp: 1. The NSS special winter camp was organised at Shriramnagar, Dist. Pune, from 30th December 2014 to 5th January 2015. Various activities like “Self-Defence” workshop, “ Krishi Tantra Gyan” workshop, “Eye check-up”, “Health check-up”, “Home-Minister” program, “Career Guidance and Personality Development” workshop, “Shaskiya Vikas” workshop, “Health Awareness” workshop, “Science Exhibition”, Competitions and “Kalavishkar” were organised and conducted in the village.

2. Regular activities:

  • 10 volunteers volunteered as “Varkari-Mitra” for 3 days from 21st July to 23rd July during the Palki stay at Pune. Security management, water and sanitation management and medical facilities for the Maulis’ were undertaken by the volunteers.
  • 30 volunteers along with staff members and P.O. visited “Maher”, an orphanage at Wagholi on 6th and 13th July. Interactive sessions, cultural and shramdan was conducted by the volunteers.
  • 10 volunteers attended the “State-Level Youth Conference” at Shiv Chhatrapati Krida Sankul Mahaangule, Balewadi on 19th July, 2014.
  • 50 volunteers along with P.O. participated in the “Mutha River Cleaning Drive” on 22th July, 2014 from Mhatre Bridge to Bhide Bridge. Cleaning of the river as well as riverside was undertaken by the volunteers.
  • All NSS volunteers actively participated in making diaries and collected funds for NSS by selling these diaries to the staff members of BVCOEW.
  • 50 NSS Volunteers along with staff members and P.O. on account of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ on 9th August, 2014 visited NDRF, Sudumbre, Chakan. The NSS volunteers celebrated this festival by tying rakhis to the respective officers and Jawans.
  • 100 volunteers participated in “International Youth Week” on HIV awareness which was celebrated from 4th August to 12th August, 2014 in BVCOEW, organised by MHACS and SPPU. Various activities were conducted during this period like elocution competition, poster competition and slogan competition. A guest lecture on “importance of health” was delivered by Dr. Minaz Kulkarni. “Oath Taking Ceremony” was conducted as part of the inauguration of the event.
  • 150 volunteers along with P.O. and staff members participated in Independence Day which was celebrated on 15th August, 2014 at BVCOEW. Poster exhibition was held on account of Independence Day.
  • P.O. and 2 volunteers attended meeting on Police Mitra Training Program held at Commissioner Office at 20th August, 2014.
  • 15 volunteers actively participated in “Police-Mitra” preparation at the Commissioner office from 22nd August, 2014 to 24th August, 2014. Making of I-cards, list and distribution of volunteers in respective police stations were undertaken by the volunteers.
  • 100 volunteers participated in the “Police Duty” during Ganpati Festival from 29th August, 2014 to 8th September, 2014.
  • 150 volunteers along with Principal, P.O., staff members and alumni attended NSS Foundation Day Foundation program which was celebrated in BVCOEW on 24th September, 2014. Mr. Santosh Garje, who runs an orphanage in Gevrai, Beed was invited as the guest of this event. NSS Alumni Volunteers Mamata Yengul, Janaki Yadav and Nupur Jagtap also attended this event.
  • 150 volunteers along with the Principal, P.O. and staff members participated in the “Oath Taking Ceremony” on account of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan on 2nd October, 2014. Cleaning of the college was undertaken by the volunteers.
  • 20 volunteers participated in “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan Cleaning Drive” at Dhankawadi, Katraj. Cleaning of the roads, gutter and dustbins were undertaken by the volunteers.
  • 150 volunteers along with the Principal, P.O., and staff members participated in the “National Unity Day” Oath Taking Ceremony on 30th October, 2014.
  • NSS volunteers along with P.O. and staff members visited the 3-day residential camp organised by the ‘Munoth Vidyalaya’ at Gokulnagar, Katraj on 28th November, 2014. The NSS volunteers organised cultural events for the children along with various games. They also explained the importance of NSS to them and held a value-education seminar for them.
  • 100 volunteers along with the Principal, P.O. and staff members participated in the “Aids Awareness Week” on 1st December, 2014 in BVCOEW organised by SPPU. Poster exhibition regarding awareness about AIDS was undertaken by the volunteers.
  • 5 volunteers attended the 2-day workshop on “Youth Seminar” on sustainable solutions for access to safe water: promoting innovation and collaboration from 2nd December, 2014 to 3rd December, 2014.
  • Visits to special camps of different colleges by Area Coordinator Prof. Savita Atul Itkarkar:- Sarhad College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Katraj. Sinhagad College of Pharmacy, Narhe TSSM’s College of Engineering, Narhe Abhniav College of Arts and Science, Katraj
  • Kritika Surya (BE E&TC) and Rasika Tambe(TE E&TC) participated in blood donation camp at MIT college on 10th January, 2015.
  • 5 volunteers attended the “Road Safety Program” at Sadhu Vaswani Chowk on 12th January, 2015 on account of road safety week organised by SPPU.
  • Street Play on ‘HARAWALI PAKHARE’ (Bal Sudhar Griha) was performed by NSS Volunteers at “Sinhagad Karandak” on 12th January, 2015.
  • Volunteers also volunteered as a writer for blind students of various colleges for their exams. ILS Law college Bharati Vidyapeeth Law College MS-CIT exam
  • 10 volunteers performed a drama on “Harawali Pakhare” at the Jishin Annual Social Gathering held at BVCOEW on 23rd January, 2015.
  • 15 volunteers participated in singing, dance and street play program organised by the IETE Student Forum on 2nd February, 2015
  • 5 volunteers participated in district level Self Defence workshop at S.P. College on 9th February, 2015.

Students Achievements

Students' Achievements:

  • Kritika Surya (BE E&TC) was selected for State Republic Day Parade Camp which was held in Mumbai from 17th January to 26th January.
  • Kritika Surya (BE E&TC) and Chaitali Zurange (TE E&TC) was selected for ‘Avhan Disaster Management Camp’ which was held from 8th June to 18th June, 2014 at Nagpur organised by the Government of Maharashtra.
  • Shavita Koul (TE-E&TC) was selected for ‘National Level Integration Camp’ which was held from 22nd September to 29th September, 2014 at NSS Bhavan, Jnana Bharati Campus, Bangalore University, Bangalore organised by Government of India.
  • Kritika Surya (BE E&TC) attended the “Seminar” delivered by the Education Minister of Maharashtra at SPPU on 20th November, 2014. Problems related to education and their solutions were discussed in the seminar.
  • Vasanta Kamble (TE E&TC) participated in the “State-Level Utkarsha” selection camp on 3rd December, 2014.
  • Kritika Surya (BE E&TC) delivered a guest lecture on “Importance of Communication Skills” at Nevasa, Ahmednagar during the NSS special camp of Shri Gyaneshwar Mahavidyalaya.
  • Kritika Surya (BE E&TC), Shavita Koul (TE E&TC) and Rasika Tambe (TE E&TC) were selected for the 3-day Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad, organised by the MAEER’S MIT School of Government, Pune and the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad foundation from 10th to 12th January, 2015.
  • Rasika Tambe (TE E&TC) was selected for State Republic Day Parade Camp which was held in Mumbai from 17th January to 26th January, 2015.
  • Namrata Shinde (TE E&TC) was selected for ‘National Level Integration Camp’ which was held from 24th January to 30th January, 2015 at Mysore, Karnataka organised by Government of India.
  • Apoorva Thackeray (SE E&TC) and Ashlesha Modhave (SE E&TC) were selected for university level Water Management camp at Sangamner, Maharashtra from 5th February to 9th February, 2015.

The Department of Information Technology organised a seminar on “Cloud Computing: From Security, Privacy to Forensics Challenges” by Dr. Arati M Dixit, Chairperson of ACM-W India, on 1st September, 2017. The seminar was organised under the Student Chapter of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The speaker discussed about the challenges in the security, privacy and forensics of Cloud Computing. She also provided brief information on benefits of having ACM student chapter.

The Department of Information Technology, College of Engineering for Women, Pune, organized a seminar on “Usability Design and Entrepreneur Skills” by Mr. Shashi Sudhanshu, CEO, Talkd. Inc., Pune, on 23rd August 2017. The seminar was organized under the Student Chapter of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The speaker presented an overview of Usability Design and the skills required to become an entrepreneur.

The Department of Information Technology, organized seminar on "Evolution of Internet: Past, Present, and Future" by Dr. R. Venkateswaran, Senior Vice President, IoT Solutions, Persistent Systems Limited, Pune on 4th July, 2017 under Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter. The speaker presented an overview of computer networking and the three generations of Internet.
