Department of Engineering Sciences and Allied Engineering
Engineering Sciences is an amalgam of various disciplines of allied engineering.
The department strives to introduce innovative and modern methods in classroom teaching that would not only impart the traditional concepts but will also arouse the curiosity of the students to explore the depth of the subjects. The department has state of art laboratories. Our staff members are highly qualified, knowledgeable, experienced, competent, enthusiastic and dynamic. Each class has a designated Guardian Faculty Member (GFM) who has weekly interaction with the class representative (CR). The coordinator and GFMs are in constant touch with the parents/guardians of the student.
They keep parents regularly apprised of the academic records and overall development of their ward. We have devised a novel method of continuous assessment of students for judging the performance in the laboratories. At the end of the semester we host open day for the parents/guardians to interact freely with the staff members. Industrial visits are conducted regularly for the hands on experience. Outmost importance is given to the collaboration with the research laboratories for research and development activities. We motivate students to participate in various competitions and events for the overall development.
Head of Department
Vice Principal - Administration.

Department SWOC Analysis
Strengths
- Multi-disciplinary Faculty: The department has faculty from basic sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and allied engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering. This diversity of perceptions and ideas makes the department vibrant.
- Team Work: Teaching faculty and supporting staff work collaboratively to achieve the department’s common goals and ensure smooth conduct of academic and extracurricular activities.
- Participative Governance: A strong network of Head of the Department, Academic Coordinator, GFM, Class Representatives, and Batch Coordinators helps in effective decision implementation and provides a platform for student participation in decision-making.
- Strong Academic Monitoring: The coordinated framework of Head of the Department, Academic Coordinator, GFM, Class Representatives, and Batch Coordinators ensures effective academic monitoring.
- Remedies for Slow Learners: Identification of slow learners and counseling by experienced faculty help first-year students overcome transitional challenges, set goals, and achieve them.
- Financial Aid Initiatives: Faculty members motivate students to apply for various scholarship schemes offered under CSR initiatives by different organizations.
- Faculty Achievements:
- Several faculty members have enrolled in Ph.D. programs and are publishing their research work.
- An increasing number of faculty members are completing STTPs and FDPs of more than two weeks duration.
- Faculty members are actively publishing books.
- Faculty members are actively filing and publishing patents.
- Faculty members actively participate in departmental, institutional, and university-level committees for smooth curriculum implementation.
- Faculty members are highly motivated to work on interdisciplinary research publications.
Weakness
- The inherent weakness of a first year department is lack of opportunity to teach higher classes and guide third or final year projects which could help in actualizing an idea the faculty may have.
- Teaching same subject repeatedly for years is not inspiring.
Opportunities
- There is a huge opportunity of inculcating new ideas, values, implementing best practices of teaching learning methodologies, promote interactive learning & active learning strategies in order to bridge the gap with students having diverse capabilities.
- It is an opportunity for department to increase Industry interaction to provide inputs that help in aligning academic activities with the requirement of the industry.
Challenges
- With increase in number of engineering colleges, mass education presents the challenge of teaching students with diverse capabilities. However, by implementing best practices of teaching learning methodologies & evaluating the capabilities at the FE level helps them to explore their own practices for next four years of education so that they have a fruitful career converts.
- FE students come from diverse academic, social and regional backgrounds. Bridging the academic gap and bringing them on a common platform is a challenge.
- Strengthening research activities is challenging because of time constraint. In spite of this, several faculty members are engaged in this activity.
Future Plans
- To give experiential & collaborative learning by implementing Project based learning.
- To have faculty participation in FDP & STTP to cope up with the recent developments & up keepment of their knowledge so that they can explore these developments in front of students so that students will find interest in the subject.
- Department can work on interdisciplinary projects to generate grants.
